Sunmonu Attends Commissioning of OnaAra Hospital On 30 September 2017, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu, attended the commissioning of the Ona-Ara hospital. The hospital is located in Ona-Ara Local Government within Oyo Central Senatorial District and is poised to provide top-class facilities to citizens. In her remarks, Sunmonu pledged to consider the area- as agreed with party leaders- when next facilitating electricity transformers, if needed to ensure that power at the hospital does not cause a problem for patients.

China Is Committed Towards Assiting MOSWEF To Develop Grassroots China Is Committed Towards Assiting MOSWEF To Develop Grassroots Today, 26 October 2017, the Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonu Foundation (MOSWEF) held an Entrepreneurship Training Programme on “How to Manage a Sustainable Small Business” for 400 indigenes of Oyo state. It held at the International Institute for Tropical Agricultural (IITA), Ibadan. The programme was in collaboration with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China and GT Bank. In attendance as the Special Guest of Honour was His Excellency, Dr Zhou Pingjian, the Ambassador of China to Nigeria. In his remarks at the event, Dr Pingjian praised Sen. Sunmonu for being an erudite grassroots politician, whose Foundation was focussed on development, industry, good practice and sustainability. Senator Monsurat Sunmonu decries deplorable roads in Oyo Central District

The senator representing Oyo Central in the National Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu, has decried the number of deplorable roads in her constituency. Sunmonu, who spoke yesterday when a delegation of her constituents visited her in Abuja, noted that most of the roads in the constituency have become death traps. The former Oyo State House of Assembly Speaker listed Oyo-Ogbomoso Road (under construction), Ibadan-Oyo and Oyo-Iseyin roads as the worst affected. The lawmaker, who displayed photographs of accident vehicles on the roads, said it was disheartening that accidents had become regular on the roads Sunmonu, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, noted that though she had raised the matter on the floor of the Senate, she would lead the delegation to take up the matter with the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), to seek quick fix of the roads. SUNMONU TAKES OYO CENTRAL LEADERS TO VISIT POWER, WORKS & HOUSING MINISTRY  In a rare feat for a political office holder, Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, took political leaders to visit the Minister of State for Power, Works & Housing, Hon. Mustapha Baba Shehuri on 5 October 2017.  The agenda of the 5 October meeting attended by the leaders was also the state of infrastructure within the Oyo Central.  The leaders were able to lay before the Minister the challenges faced within the Senatorial District. Roads such as completion of the Oyo-Ogbomosho Expressway, Ibadan-Oyo Expressway, Oyo-Ife and a number of roads in Ibadan less-city such as Akaran road were all tabled, among others.  Sunmonu again copiously informed the Hon. Senate Passes Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill You will recall the motion moved by Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, during Senate Plenary on 15 November 2016 on the treatment of critical condition persons and gunshot victims. Today, 11 July 2017, the Senate passed the Compulsory Treatment and Care of Victims of Gunshots Bill. The Bill, which was sent for Legislative Concurrence, seeks to establish a law that ensures that victims of gunshot wounds receive necessary treatment from medical workers and assistance from security agencies. Speaking on the passage of the Bill, President of The Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, stated that not every victim of a gunshot wound is a criminal, hence, it is important that a legal framework be put into place to avoid unnecessary loss of lives. “By the passage of this Bill, the Senate has moved to ensure that every hospital in Nigeria, both public and private, must accept to treat victims of gunshot wo

Sunmonu Football Scholarship

Sunmonu Football Scholarship: Sen. Sunmonu was visited by Usman Adelodun and his parents. Usman was the MVP of a football competition facilitated by the former Oyo State Speaker about four years ago. He used to play at Fola Tyre. Usman was the beneficiary of the Monsurat Sunmonu Football Scholarship at the Lead City University Football Academy for U-15 boys. The Academy is under the coordination of Former National Super Eagles FIFA Coach, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde. For the past four years he has continued to be sponsored by the Oyo Central Senator towards achieving his dream of being a professional footballer.

Sunmonu Commissions Classroom Blocks at Alma Mater On 2 July 2017, Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, along with other members of the 1973/77 set, commissioned 3 blocks of classrooms at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo. The Oyo Central Senator contributed towards the classrooms as part of her desire to ensure students are able to access some of the best educational facilities.
