PROVISION OF SCHORLARSHIP & BURSARIES TO DESERVED STUDENTS FROM OYO CENTRAL ZONE:
Senator Monsurat Olajumoke Sunmonun gave scholarships and Bursaries to some students in her constituency, Oyo Central Senatorial District.
"Appreciation Of One's Efforts Is Always Encouraging- Sunmonu
On the 24th September 2016 Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu sponsored the National Association of Oyo Students (NAOS) '5th Annual Oba Adeyemi Mathematics Competition' for the secondary school students across the four (4) local governments in Oyo town. The competition was held at Centenary Hall Federal School of Surveying, Oyo and the programme was attended by various eminent personalities.
In advancement of her passion for academic excellence and support for brilliance, the senator promised that the competition's overall best student would be the beneficiary of a full academic scholarship.
On the day, the best student scored a whopping 97%. His name was Olufunmilayo Philips representing Best Legacy International School, Awe.
The scholarship he got covered payment of all tuition fees, WASSCE and NECO, Excursion fees and other academic related expenses in school.
The Distinguished Senator office recently received a letter of appreciation from the family of Olufunmilayo Philip, thanking Sunmonu for the scholarship.
Speaking on the letter, the Chair of the Senate committee on Foreign Affairs said "It is nice when efforts are appreciated as it encourages you to do more. I am a big believer in the power of education and I always try in my own little way to reward excellence.
She continued "Since becoming a Senator I have tried to do this in a number of ways such as facilitating a full scholarship for a constituent to study economics in China, providing free JAMB forms for over 250, providing bursaries to over 50 students. I have also managed to secure more foreign scholarships for students which my office will soon make available to students from Oyo Central."
